OUR  BELIEFS

These basic doctrines within the Christ Family Statement of Faith are what we champion.

The Gospel

We are God's creation, made in His image to show His glory. Because of sin, our relationship with God is broken and we fail to reflect His glory. There is nothing we can do to restore the broken relationship between us and God. Because of our religious upbringing, we might feel like we can earn a good standing with God through good works, but God's Word says otherwise.

God is a just Judge and therefore must punish sinners. God, in His mercy, provides a way to restore the broken relationship between us sinners and Him. He sent His Son Jesus Christ to live on earth as a man, perfectly obedient to His will, even unto death on a cross. Because of Christ's perfect life and His death on our behalf, we have salvation from God's wrath and are spared from His just punishment. By God's sovereign grace, all who receive Christ by faith are saved. By grace through faith, we are declared guiltless before God and we can enjoy fellowship with Him. The Lord calls sinners like you and me, those who are spiritually hungry and thirsty, to come to Him.

God saves us to serve Him and bear fruit for His glory.

The Scriptures

The Bible, including the 39 books of the Old Testament and the 27 books of the New Testament, is the written Word of God. It is authoritative, accurate, and applicable to our lives.

God is Triune

There is one God, the creator of heaven and earth. He exists in three distinct persons. God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. He is both perfectly holy and loving.

Jesus Christ

Jesus Christ is fully God and fully man. He was always with God and is God. Through him, all things were created. He is the only Savior for the sins of the world, having lived the perfect life we cannot live, died the death we deserved, and rose again to conquer death for all those who believe in Him.

The Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit is the Giver of life that convicts the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment. He compels us to believe and empowers us to live for Jesus. He is the third person of the Trinity.

Man

God made man - male and female - in his own image, as the crown of creation, that man might have fellowship with him. Tempted by Satan, man rebelled against God, lost and without hope apart from salvation in Christ.

Man's Response to the Gospel

This gospel of grace is to be preached and offered to all people of all nations, so that sinners may believe and receive salvation from sin through faith in Jesus.

Man's Inheritance Through the Gospel

Salvation is a free gift of God, provided by grace alone, through faith alone, because of Christ alone, for the glory of God alone. Anyone who believes in Christ receives the gift of eternal life and belongs to the family of God as benefactors of all the blessings and richness of His Kingdom.

Empowered by the Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit also empowers believers to live as Christians in this world. While all genuine believers are indwelt by the Holy Spirit at the time they believe, the New Testament indicates the importance of a continual ongoing, empowering work of the Spirit within the life of the Christian.

The Church

God by his World and Spirit created the Church, calling sinful people out of the whole human race into the fellowship of Christ's Body. The Church is not a religious institution or denomination. Rather, the Church is made up of those who have become genuine followers of Jesus Christ.

Christ’s Return

There will be a visible, personal, and glorious return of Jesus Christ, when the dead will rise and those alive in Christ will be united to Him. All things will be made new, right, and perfectly beautiful. There will be no more tears or pain.
